After another massive night at the Feast Hub I decided to sleep in till late afternoon to be nice and fresh for the evening ahead. Friday night was to be my final night in Adelaide and I was already beginning to feel sad that I was leaving all the great friends I had made.
I met up with Glace around 6pm for our final sound check and we both were excited about the show. I think a days break had really given us some time to chill and were really prepared to nail it. As it turned out it was one of the best shows of the tour I believe. (More)

Today was my chance to check out more of Feast as I had the night off from Glace’s show. I had planned to meet up with friends around 6pm for drinks before catching a show I had been looking forward to all week. After a pretty lazy day hanging out at the Feast hub being fabulous the crew from Higher Ground Feast Hub it was time to get dressed up and head out for a great nights entertainment. (More)

After a great refreshing sleep it was time to head back to the hub for my usual breakfast as performers get cheap drinks and food from the hub. Yet another things missing from Mardi Gras. It’s been fantastic weather here so sunning around the hub with my new fabulous friends was the perfect way to spend the afternoon. I also took the chance to restring my guitar so we could hopefully avoud breaking another string in the song Paedolicious. Glace pooped over to the venue around 5pm and we both headed back to the hotel to prepare for another 8:30pm show. (More)

After a wild first performance and a totally crazy night that followed as you would expect I did not get much sleep and was up the next day delivering blogs to you at SameSame. I hit the streets of Adelaide around 10am, did a little shopping, grabbed some breakfast at the Feast Hub before settling in at a lovely net café to upload videos from my Iphone. After several pineapple juices and a coffee of three I slowly began to feel human again. (More)

I awoke from Glace’s couch around 10pm and quickly got my collective shit together to head out exploring in Adelaide for a few hours before our performance tech check @ 2pm. Glace headed off to a tailor to get some magic done to his sexy jeans which get torn off during the show in total stripper style. Straight away I hit the clothing stores of Adelaide looking for something to buy. I ended up buying a fab pair of black & pink girly skater runners which made my day. (More)

Without much sleep I awoke early to get ready for the plane trip to Adelaide. We headed out the door at 7pm to make the 8:20pm flight. I love jumping on planes and heading interstate to perform, always feel like a rock star. Boarded the plane with no hitches and even experienced a fair bit of turbulence as I tried to swallow the pathetic breakfast supplied by Qantas. I have to admit one of the joys of flying in a plane is getting to check out the sexy flight attendants. Sadly I must point out here the average age of the attendants on my plane were all over 45 and I felt like my mother was looking after me FFS. (More)

Today I embark on a new journey. At the last SameSame party and after many drinks and a great time Glace Chase mentioned he was seeking a guitarist to tour Adelaide Feast with him. I actually met Glace at Midsumma last year; I had just gotten of stage at Carnival late in the afternoon and finally wanted to get some booze. As it turned out the tent was full and the security were letting people in after a few left. Well this is where I ran into Glace waiting to get a drink himself. We chatted and connected quickly before the rush of booze took over and we said we’d catch up. (More)

There is an old English Nursery Rhyme by the name of Stick and Stones, you may know it? The rhyme contains the words “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me.” Not only did this cheerful little rhyme keep many children happy, it was also used by parents to educate their children on dealing with the threat physical abuse in the playground. The saying has been passed down over many generations and most likely kept a fair few kids out of trouble. However there is always another side to consider as the second part of the rhyme deals with the issue of name calling or verbal abuse. In a day and age where verbal abuse seems common place in the media, internet, pop culture, comedy and even just walking down the street. What is the effect this is having on us as individuals and our overall population? (More)

I’ve mentioned before that I relocated from Melbourne to Sydney twice. The first time was in 1996. I wanted to begin my transition in Sydney as I knew nobody. I jumped of a painful Firefly bus trip at Central Station and moved into a CBD hotel with 2 bags of clothing. 1 Bag of male clothes and the other female clothes, plus my faithful acoustic guitar. I had been a busker on the streets of Melbourne for quite a few years and still believe I can make more money on the street that on the live circuit. The times busking have kept me above water are countless so I believed my busking would keep me afloat in Sydney. I can hear you laughing right now at that last statement. (More)

I first hit the gay club scene in Melbourne back in 2001. To come from my background in Metal where I acted homophobic to keep up my charade of actually being a straight male and then actually hitting the clubs was definitely an eye opener to say the least. At that time I had not yet fully decided on my new name. I was using the name Jacinta but always thought it didn’t suit me plus it wasn’t long before my friends tagged me “Jac” which to me was even worse as I didn’t want a name that could be abbreviated to sound masculine. This turned out ok for the time being though because I was just finding my feet in the outside world as a transsexual woman and was all set to try anything that came my way so the name was almost like a prostitutes alias. In 1997 I took a break away from serious music to work on a project with a friend of mine now known as Xian in the drum & bass community. We were both avid fans of noise and extreme forms of music and really wanted to put something together that was unique. Our early recordings were brutally handcrafted and totally un-listenable.
We set out turning an entire house into a living, breathing musical noise experiment. Each room was strewn with musical instruments and various 4 track recording equipment. We smoked a hell of a lot of weed, took LSD and basically moved around the house interacting with various instruments creating ambient textures to flat out noise.
From pouring buckets of water to emptying entire cutlery draws onto tables which were heavily mic’d up. The goal was to exploit music to the point that it became something barely resembling music but still tuneful. The product was very extreme and only the most ardent extreme music fan could sit through the entire 60 minute barrage of hertz destruction. We settled on the name U-10 Cells because the music essentially was made from various tools plus we regarded ourselves more as tools than performers or per say song writers. Our debut CD was finished and titled "Housefires and Electrical Faults" (More)

Since coming out back in 2003 I have mostly struggled to fit in somewhere in the GLBTQI community as many parts of it at the time seemed very fractured. I stayed in the trans community online for many years within forums and chat rooms but never really felt comfortable. The endless men trolling for chicks with dicks messaging for sex and the endless flare ups between transsexuals and crossdressers dragged me in to what seemed to be endless battles with faceless assholes hiding behind PC screens spreading their nastiness. It was the only place I kinda felt like I fit so I just stayed there and continued to partake in the mostly aggressive crap that goes on there. (More)

Last week a video was released of United States Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin being blessed and protected from witchcraft in her bizarre religious cult. Quite hilarious actually that somebody like her who is such a supporter of the religious right to even give credit to witchcraft actually having any power. Not really surprising though as throughout the ages most western religion has focused on the FEAR of EVIL to keep the Christians firmly on the path toward salvation. What exactly was she protecting herself from? Does she think all witches sit around plotting evil all day like Dr Evil from Austin Powers? Or could it be as history as shown the witches are a threat because so much of modern day western religion is based on Pagan rituals, symbols and writings? (More)

Every year Spring comes along which means Erik and I usually go away for a weekend in the bush at one of our favorite retreats out towards Wyee in Northern NSW. Normally the weekend has a few Pagan rituals involved surrounding the Goddess Morrigan but this year only a very small group decided to make the journey with only thoughts of relaxing away from the retrace.
