No one can accuse Christian Bale of taking his profession lightly. While it's not uncommon to hear of established actors losing or gaining a few pounds for a role, Bale shocked viewers everywhere when he first appeared onscreen in 2004's 'The Machinist' looking so emaciated he could squeeze through prison bars (with room to spare). His shocking 63-pound weight loss is said to be a record for any actor for a movie role. What's even more remarkable is how he quickly bulked up right afterwards to play the Caped Crusader in the following year's 'Batman Begins'. While such wild weight swinging is hardly recommendable, Bale makes the effort worthwhile by sinking his teeth so deep into his role as troubled insomniac Trevor Reznik that the mere sight of him onscreen is enough to send shivers down your spine. Of course, in Brad Anderson's masterful suspense chiller, that's precisely the point. Playing the titular machinist who hasn't slept in a year, Bale's deep, hollow eye sockets and rail thin physique are the perfect foreground for Anderson's tension-filled tale of guilt, forgiveness, and ultimately, redemption. Under no circumstances a feel-good film, 'The Machinist' ratchets up the sense of dread with every passing moment. Showcasing a talented cast that also includes Jennifer Jason Leigh in her umpteenth prostitute role, the movie offers no respite for those looking for frothy entertainment. Moody set pieces and a tightly wound plot make this a successful exercise in high-concept storytelling. Don't be fooled into believing that the semi-predictable plot twist is what the film's about -- this is no Shyamalan venture. 'The Machinist' is coated with several layers of subtext that almost demands a second viewing. With a film this disturbing, that might just be too much to ask for.

Sorry guys for not being my normal upbeat self but the shootings yesterday here in the states at Virginia Tech have me feeling sad and confused as to why anyone would just start shooting and taking lives. And I know you're probably saying, don't talk about that because it happened in the states, but it's affecting me and I need to vent. I don't understand how someone can be so gone mentally that he just starts killing. I know I'm naive, young and stupid, but how can you hate that much to just start killing people? I don't hate anyone that much, not even George Bush. :) I had trouble going fishing the few times I did because I felt sorry for the fish. I know that's how they get on our plate at dinner but I just can't do it. I pray for the families of the 33 students that were killed. I hope this never happens again, but I know it will. Hey all! I was down in Sydney last weekend for Mardi Gras. Had a wonderful time but glad to back in Brisbane, and spend some time in the world of Ivalice. I got my hands on Final Fantasy XII last week and unfortunately haven't really had much time to play it. I've currently clocked around 5 hours, and this game is big. Apparently i'll need to spend another 55 hours to complete it. It's a wonder I still have friends. A quick welcome to all new members. Walking back to my hotel after Mardi Gras I witnessed a viscious and unprovoked bashing. 4 Guys Kicked a guy to the ground just outside the 7/11 I had walked into. I might just as well have been me. As I watched they broke his nose, cheek and split his head with their feet before they ran. Then today i read that volunteers were bashed along ther parade route. The violence got one step closer to me this year, making me a little bit more scared and wary of people. On the bright side the night before a girl asked me to walk her back to her hotel. Se wanted a gay boy to make her feel safe on the streets. I don't know what's happenning in the world, but I really wish we could find a way to make it stop!

What a great night. The Parade was a total success, and the party was brilliant. Paul Mac was the highlight for my night at the partty. I just want to make a special metion of the parade marshals who looked after us so well before and durign the parade. Sitting just past Taylors squuare the group for our section were dressed up with Rabbit Ears and Cotton Tails, 20 cuter bunnys you would never have seen. Their sexy antics kept us entertained in the long hours before the parade commenced. I'll load up some pics to my home page once I'm home (still in sydney for a few hours today). Having had the privledge of being in most States of Australia I have found Perth to be the one place that people can be expresssed with out the feeling that they have to be part of a community to feel at home. Mostly the climate of personalities can and will direct comments from people who come here from other states that have a higher social access , when it comes to friendships and events well I would have to say that Perth has enough to keep up with the other States.

AAAAAhhhhhhh!!!!! I have to make decisions now. What the Hell will I wear to Mardi Gras. I can't take everythign so what do I choose?? The leather harness? The Shiny Shirt? Basic Black - Hell I don't even know what the new Baack is in Sydney this year???  (More)

I remember when i was young, all i wanted to do was go to sydney, not just for mardi gras to see the city itself, i cant wait to come back!! I guess i am a little over excited, but it truly embraces my creative and i always have fun meeting old and new friends!! I just wish the ALBURY was still there!! 10 years on the drag scene has taught me so much but most oof it all, to me doing my the drag character that the gorgeous and where is she now drag stylist Nauru who named me Feral Beral at my first gay party at 14, i have to say its about the people you meet and the reaactions!! I love it and hopefully i will come back to sydney a little more often!! Cant wait to go to Luna Park on Sunday and of course the Mardi Gras party!! Be safe, and feel free to come up and say hi!!
