A few years ago, I was having a relaxing evening, sitting on the lounge in a heavily inebriated state; when I happened to glance towards the door and notice a sizable spider sitting quietly above the door frame, possibly observing me just as I was it. It was very spider-like, all bristly legs and a head full of eyes. I’m really uncomfortable with spiders and tend to get all squeamish around them. This particular night however, due to a mixture of intoxicated laziness, general apathy and that warm feeling of kindness that tends to envelop me during a good buzz, well I made a deal with that spider. CTL – ALT – DELETE (a.k.a. The Blue Screen of Life) If you’re reading this blog, there’s a fair chance you are currently seated in front of a PC or laptop. And in-as-much as you’re sitting in front of a PC or laptop you have likely encountered, on more than one occasion, the dreaded system lock up. You know what I mean, at one moment your PC is purring along rather contentedly as you listen to music, check your dating site profile, download pics off your camera from last night’s party and forward along the latest inane web jokes to your friends across the instant messengers. All of this is happening quite seamlessly until one of these programs belches up some unexpected tidbit of digital gristle. Some unknown string of ones and zeros that simply makes your computer go, “Huh?” The unexpected, the unknown, it throws a wrench in the works and brings things to a grinding halt.  (More)
